Biomedical engineering telemetry and physiological states are evaluated rigorously using 64-bit IEEE 754 precision. Residuals reflect ordinary least-squares regression across successive observations. Continuous data structures support high-fidelity biological and physiological modeling.

Biomedical assumptions and boundary condition limits

The linear compliance model applies strictly within the elastic limit; plastic yielding requires non-linear elastoplastic analysis. Evaluated on a 6-hole medical-grade Ti-6Al-4V ELI LC-DCP plate (thickness 3.8 mm, width 11.0 mm) tested in an ASTM F382 fixture with outer span L = 100 mm and inner load span a = 25 mm. Tested from 100 N to 600 N in the linear elastic regime. Structural compliance C_b = 0.0042 mm/N.

FOLLOW THE METHOD

A reason behind every step.

Evaluate the structural bending compliance C_b and flexural rigidity of a medical Ti-6Al-4V ELI bone fracture fixation plate under standardized ASTM F382 four-point bending. Standardized parameter settings: 100.0, 200.0, 300.0, 400.0, 500.0, 600.0 N.

01

Fixture Geometry Calibration

Set outer roller span to exactly L = 100.0 mm and inner roller span to a = 25.0 mm using precision gauge blocks; verify parallelism of all four cylindrical rollers.

02

Plate Centering and Zero Contact

Position the titanium plate symmetrically across the support rollers so that a central screw hole aligns with the middle of the pure bending span.

03

Centerline Deflectometer Positioning

Position the precision LVDT directly beneath the plate center span and adjust the spring-loaded probe tip to make positive contact.

04

Tare Load and Crosshead Zeroing

Apply a seating tare load of 10 N to eliminate mechanical play and zero both load and deflection readings.

05

Stepwise Loading Sequence

Advance crosshead at 1.0 mm/min through load increments of 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, and 600 N, recording stabilized mid-span deflection δ at each step.

06

Structural Compliance Regression

Plot mid-span deflection δ versus applied load W and compute the structural bending compliance C_b and flexural rigidity E·I via linear regression.
